Our Partners Behind the Scenes–Here’s How We Work Together
Carson Group / CWM, LLC
As a Carson Partners affiliated firm, Two Bird Wealth Strategies is supported by the knowledge and resources of a leading national organization and a growing network of independent advisors across the country, without sacrificing the personal relationships and community focus that define who we are.
Carson’s back-office support in technology, market and investment research, operations, and compliance means our team can spend less time on logistics and more time with you.
Fidelity and Charles Schwab
When you work with us, you may notice something that sometimes surprises people: your account statements and the firm holding your investments have a different name than ours. That’s intentional, and it’s actually an important protection for you.
We manage. They hold.
There are two distinct roles related to how your investments are handled.
- We’re your financial advisor, responsible for the advice, the strategy, and the ongoing management of your portfolio.
- The custodian, like Fidelity or Charles Schwab, is a separate, independent company whose job is to hold your assets, keep official records, and send you statements. They’re not affiliated with us, which means your money is always visible to you independently of anything we do.
What does that mean day to day?
We have authorized access to your account at the custodian, which allows us to manage your investments on your behalf. But you’ll receive official statements and tax documents directly from the custodian, and you can log in to their platform any time to see your holdings on your own. This separation is one of the most important safeguards in the industry; even if your relationship with our firm changes down the road, your assets remain accessible to you directly through the custodian.
The short version…
We’re the ones you can call when you have a question, a life change, or a big financial decision. We’re also doing work behind the scenes- placing trades, rebalancing your portfolio, and coordinating with the custodian, to help your investments stay on track without you having to manage those tasks directly. The custodian is where your money lives and where your official records are kept. Both roles matter; they just serve different purposes.
